A loader is a type of earthmoving machinery widely used in construction projects such as highways, railways, buildings, hydropower, ports, and mines. It is mainly used for loading and unloading bulk materials such as soil, sand, gravel, lime, and coal, and can also perform light digging operations on ores and hard soil. Below, we share four important precautions for safe loader operation, hoping they will be helpful!
Safety Precautions Before Starting the Engine
① Check and ensure that all lights and indicator lights are functioning properly. Pay special attention to checking the turn signals and brake lights.
② Check and ensure that no one is working under the vehicle or near the loader when starting the engine to ensure that no one is endangered in case of an accident.
③ Before starting, the loader's gear shift lever should be in neutral.
④ For loader systems without emergency braking, the handbrake lever should be in the park position.
⑤ The engine should only be started or operated in well-ventilated areas. If operating indoors, the engine exhaust should be connected to or directed outdoors.
Safety Precautions After Engine Start and During Operation
① After starting the engine, wait until the brake air pressure reaches the safe pressure before starting to ensure braking safety during driving. For vehicles with emergency braking, press the emergency and parking brake valve button (the button can only be pressed when the air pressure reaches the permissible starting pressure; otherwise, it will automatically pop up) to release the emergency and parking brakes before engaging gear and starting. For vehicles without emergency braking, simply release the parking brake lever to start.
② Clear any obstacles from the loader's path, paying particular attention to obstacles such as metal blocks and ditches to avoid puncturing the tires.
③ Adjust the rearview mirrors to provide the driver with the best visibility.
④ Ensure the loader's horn, reverse signal light, and all safety devices are functioning properly.
⑤ Before starting or checking the steering's left and right flexibility, sound the horn to warn surrounding personnel.
⑥ Before starting, test all control levers, pedals, and steering wheel to ensure they are in normal working order before commencing operation. Special attention should be paid to checking the steering and braking systems for proper function. Only begin operation after confirming that the steering and braking systems are completely functioning correctly.
⑦ When moving, position the bucket approximately 400mm off the ground. When working on mountain slopes or crossing ditches or other obstacles, reduce speed and make small turns to avoid tipping over. If the loaded surface begins to slide to one side on a steep slope, unload immediately to prevent further sliding.
⑧ During operation, avoid excessive tire slippage; avoid having both wheels suspended in the air; do not continue working with only two wheels on the ground. 9. When acting as a towing vehicle, only engage the towing device. No one is allowed to stand between the towed object and the loader, and a safe distance must be maintained to prevent accidents.
Safety Precautions When Parking
① The wheel loader for agriculture and farm use should be parked on level ground with the bucket flat on the ground. After the engine is turned off, repeatedly operate the working device control lever to ensure that all hydraulic cylinders are in a depressurized resting state. When the loader can only be parked on a slope, secure the tires.
② Place all handles in neutral or intermediate positions.
③ Remove the ignition key first, then turn off the main power switch, and finally close the doors and windows.
④ Do not park in areas with open flames or high temperatures to prevent tires from exploding due to heat and causing an accident.
⑤ When inflating tires using a combination valve or air tank, do not stand in front of the tire to prevent injury from an explosion.
General Safety Precautions
① Before using the 5 ton wheel loader heavy duty, the driver and relevant personnel must carefully read the instruction manual or operation and maintenance manual provided by the manufacturer and follow the instructions. Failure to do so may result in serious consequences and unnecessary losses.
② The driver's clothing should meet safety requirements and include necessary protective equipment.
③ In small or dangerous work areas, warning signs must be displayed within the area or at dangerous points.
④ Driving under the influence of alcohol or while excessively fatigued is strictly prohibited.
⑤ When performing maintenance or inspection work in the center articulation area, an anti-rotation bar must be installed to prevent relative rotation between the front and rear frames. ⑥ Only get on and off the loader after it has come to a complete stop, using a ladder or handrail. Never jump on or off the loader while it is operating or moving.
⑦ When raising the boom for loader maintenance, make sure to securely padded boom to ensure it will never fall under any maintenance conditions.
